Slipping Wives

In Slipping Wives, the domestic sphere becomes a stage for a desperate social gambit. Leon (Albert Conti) is a husband more enamored with his paintbrushes and canvases than his wife, leaving the spirited heroine (Priscilla Dean) to languish in a state of romantic neglect. Her solution is not a quiet divorce, but a loud, performative deception. She recruits a local handyman (Stan Laurel) to masquerade as 'Ferdinand Flamingo,' a fictional literary giant of immense prestige. The plan is simple: introduce this 'genius' at a high-society party, have him flirt outrageously with her, and spark the dormant jealousy of her husband. However, the handyman's lack of social grace and the unexpected presence of a suspicious butler (Oliver Hardy) turn a calculated jealous fit into a chaotic spiral of slapstick and mistaken identities.
