Tea for Three

In the brittle, high-society world of the 1920s, Carter Langford is a man consumed by the green-eyed monster. While his wife Doris maintains a seemingly innocent friendship with the charismatic bachelor Philip Collamore, Carter interprets every shared glance as a betrayal. The tension reaches a breaking point over a triviality: a joke. When Doris laughs uproariously at a story told by Collamore—the same story Carter had previously told to a lukewarm reception—the husband’s ego shatters. This petty resentment spirals into a macabre pact. Carter proposes a game of cards with the highest possible stakes: the loser must commit suicide to leave the winner an unobstructed path to Doris’s heart. The narrative shifts from a domestic drama into a psychological thriller, eventually moving to the confined, luxurious quarters of an ocean liner.
