The Golden Rosary

A half-drowned prospector is hauled from an icy river by a seraphic nun whose fingers, blue with cold, count absolutions instead of nuggets; years later, the same man claws a fortune from the permafrost and barters his nuggets for a sequined dance-hall siren whose laugh jangles like spurs.
