In the vibrant and often chaotic world of Weimar-era entertainment, Peter Verdy finds himself ensnared in a romantic knot that threatens his social standing. His heart belongs to Lola, a spirited variety performer whose life is as loud as the stages she inhabits. The conflict sharpens when Peter’s wealthy uncle—a man with rigid expectations and a pre-arranged marriage in mind—enters the fray. Through a series of frantic backstage maneuvers, Lola is mistaken for a young boy while dressed in her theatrical regalia. Rather than correcting the error, the couple leans into the deception, triggering a cascade of gender-bending misunderstandings and high-society friction.
