Summary
Berlin’s marble corridors quake as a swaggering American stenographer—her lipstick a crimson battle standard—waltzes into the Kaiser’s gilded prison-camp cabaret, juggling secret dossiers and cream pies. In a breathless pas de deux of sabotage and slapstick she commandeers the Crown Prince’s Zeppelin, swapping its bombs for confetti, then herds a scrum of U.S. doughboys through a Ruritanian maze of monocled generals, cuckoo-clock torture devices, and monocycle-riding diplomats. The Hohenzollerns, once perched like porcelain eagles, end up tarred, feathered, and auctioned to a gaggle of suffragettes for one Liberty Bond, while the irrepressible heroine tap-dances atop a table of schnitzel, singing ‘Yankee Doodle’ in fractured German until the palace chandeliers shatter like imperial pretensions.
Synopsis
A farce in which the German Kaiser and the Crown Prince are defeated and made sport of by a plucky American girl and several American prisoners of war.
