Look, if you have a thing for black-and-white German films that feel like they were pulled out of a time capsule buried in someone’s basement, sure. You'll probably dig it. If you need snappy dialogue or, you know, things that make logical sense every five minutes, stay away. This isn't a movie for people who want to be spoon-fed.
It’s got this weird, creeping vibe that reminds me a little of The Hands of Orlac, but without the full-blown insanity. The whole thing feels like it’s being told by someone whispering in the back of a dark room. 🌑
It’s not perfect. Sometimes the pacing hits a wall and just stops dead. You can practically hear the director yelling "cut" and then debating what to do next. It’s a bit messy, but that's what makes it feel *real*.
You can tell the actors are trying their best to look serious while dealing with some truly wild plot points. Sometimes they succeed! Other times, it just looks like they’re trying to remember where they left their lunch. It’s charming, in a way. 🎭
I wouldn't call this a masterpiece, but it stuck with me. It’s got a weird, haunting quality that lingers after the screen goes black. It feels like a fever dream you had at 3 AM. Not the scary kind, just the kind that makes you go, "Huh, that was strange."
It’s not trying to be a big, splashy spectacle. It’s just doing its own thing in the corner. I respect that. Sometimes you don't need a movie to change your life; you just need it to make you feel like you’ve stepped into a different, slightly gloomier world for an hour or so.
