6.2/10
Senior Film Conservator

A definitive 6.2/10 rating for a film that redefined the boundaries of cult cinema. More Kittens remains a cornerstone of transgressive art.
If you like old-school animation or just need something to lower your blood pressure, absolutely. If you demand high-stakes storytelling or complex character arcs, you are definitely looking at the wrong place. This isn't exactly The Crucial Test when it comes to narrative weight.
It’s essentially a short, sharp burst of fluff. You’ll probably like it if you’re a sucker for hand-drawn animals acting like toddlers. You’ll hate it if you have zero patience for pacing that feels like a Saturday morning cartoon from a century ago.
Watching these kittens get tossed into the yard felt a bit harsh, but the Saint Bernard showing up to save the day? Pure gold. 🐶
The turtle is genuinely a menace. Who knew a shell-dweller could be so petty? It’s funny how a few lines of animation can make a creature feel so genuinely annoying. I found myself rooting against a turtle, which is not something I expected to do today.
The animation style reminded me a little bit of the energy in The Greenwood Tree, just with more fur and less trees. It’s light, it’s fluffy, and it doesn't try to solve the world's problems. Sometimes, that is exactly what you need.
The pacing is a bit all over the place, but does it really matter? The kittens are just rolling around. It’s cute. My brain just turned off, and honestly, it felt pretty nice. 🐱
It’s not as dramatic as The Red, Red Heart, thank goodness. Just a simple, messy afternoon in the grass. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s the cinematic equivalent of a quick cat nap.
