If you like movies that feel like a dusty afternoon in an attic, you’ll probably find something to enjoy here. It’s not exactly high art, but it has a pulse. If you’re the type of person who needs a fast-moving plot or modern editing to keep your eyes open, you’ll be bored stiff within ten minutes. Seriously, don't say I didn't warn you.
There’s a specific kind of sweetness to Trådlöst och kärleksfullt that you just don't see anymore. It feels less like a produced product and more like a stage play that someone decided to film on a whim. The interactions are stiff, sure, but there's a weird sincerity to them that hits differently in 2024.
It reminded me a little bit of the strange, disjointed energy you get in Dokuro, though they are obviously very different films. There is that same sense of wanting to tell a story even if the tools aren't quite there yet. Sometimes the actors seem like they're just improvising their way through a scene because they forgot what was on the next page.
I found myself zoning out during the dialogue bits and just watching the background. The furniture! The hats! It’s all so incredibly specific to a time that’s long gone. Sometimes the movie gets better when you stop trying to follow the romance and just look at the wallpaper. Maybe that's the point?
It’s nowhere near as intense as Guilty of Love, but it isn't trying to be. It’s just trying to exist, which is honestly refreshing. It’s not going to change your life, but it might make you smile once or twice while you’re folding laundry or something. 📻✨
Don't look for deep meaning here. You won't find it. Just enjoy the weird, static-filled charm of it all and let it be what it is.
