6.7/10
Senior Film Conservator

A definitive 6.7/10 rating for a film that redefined the boundaries of cult cinema. Two Fisted Justice remains a cornerstone of transgressive art.
Should you watch Two Fisted Justice? Honestly, only if you’re deep into the weeds of 1930s B-movie westerns or you just need something to play in the background while you fold laundry. If you want high-stakes drama or well-oiled scripts, you’re going to be bored to tears. But if you dig guys in hats yelling at each other in the desert, you might get a kick out of it.
The plot is basically a skeleton. Cameron wants out of the bad guy's gang, which is a big no-no. Cheyenne Charlie gets sent to finish him, but thanks to a very attentive dog, the tables turn. Now poor Cameron is looking at a date with the hangman, and the Poncho Riders have to fix it. It’s all very predictable.
There is this one moment where the dog barks, and the whole tension of the scene just evaporates. It’s supposed to be a life-or-death warning, but it feels more like a cue for the actors to finally start moving. You can almost see them waiting for the signal to act surprised.
The action sequences are... well, they happen. It’s not exactly The Range Pirate in terms of choreography. Everything feels a bit cramped, like they were trying to squeeze a two-hour movie into a lunch break. 🤠
I couldn't help but think of Fangs of Justice while watching this. Both films have that same frantic energy where nobody really stops to explain why they're so angry. They just shout, ride, and shoot.
The ending is rushed, as you’d expect. One minute the guy is on the ropes, the next minute everyone is shaking hands and riding off into the sunset. It’s not satisfying, but it does mean the credits finally roll. 🐎
If you enjoy the genre, this feels like comfort food that’s been left out on the counter too long. It’s technically a movie, but it doesn’t leave much of a mark. Still, it’s better than sitting through a slow-burn slog that goes nowhere.
Maybe just stick to the classics if you're feeling picky. But for a lazy afternoon? Sure, why not.
