Two decades later he was trading the dusty frontier for flickering klieg lights, carving out a screen career that spanned silent shorts and early epics. Audiences remember his weather-beaten authority in At Shiloh (1913), his seafaring grit in Moran of the Lady Letty (1922), and his coonskin swagger in In the Days of Daniel Boone (1923).
