Biography
Cork, Ireland, greeted Kate Price’s first cry on 13 February 1872, and from that windswept coast she sailed toward footlights, ink pots, and flickering silver screens. Between 1926 and 1927 she slipped into three very different celluloid worlds—Paradise, Quality Street, and Orchids and Ermine—leaving audiences laughing, sighing, and asking for more. Off-camera she answered to Mrs. Joseph Price Ludwig, trading scripts for wedding rings when the set lights dimmed. Her final curtain fell on 4 January 1943 among the eucalyptus groves of Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, closing a life that had journeyed from Irish lanes to California sunshine.
