Biography
A summer baby from Baltimore, Mahlon Hamilton first drew breath on 15 June 1880. Between the silents and the first talkies he carved out a screen life—chasing Mary Pickford through Daddy-Long-Legs (1919), gambling with fate in Half a Chance (1920), and tangling with Greta Garbo’s code of love in The Single Standard (1929). Off-camera he said “I do” twice—first to Alita Bratton Farnum, then to Sara L. Leary. Eighty years and five days after his opening scene, the final curtain fell on 20 June 1960 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles.
