Biography
A crisp autumn day in Englewood, Illinois—28 October 1872—delivered Ralph Lewis to the world, and from that moment the stage claimed him. By 1915 he was pacing the flickering sets of Griffith’s The Birth of a Nation and prowling the shadows of The Wolf Man, cementing a screen presence that felt carved from oak. Twelve years later he swapped locomotive sweat for silent-era swagger, stepping into the title role of Casey Jones. Off-camera, he shared his life with fellow performer Vera Lewis. The final curtain fell on 4 December 1937 in Los Angeles, but the celluloid still keeps him alive.
