Biography
A Midwestern boy born under the wide-open skies of Lima, Illinois on 13 August 1855, Charles T. Dazey grew into a yarn-spinner whose ink ran as fast as any racehorse. From newsroom desks he leapt to Broadway marquees, crafting the comic gallop of *Manhattan Madness* (1916), the shadowy twists of *The Midnight Trail* (1918), and the thundering hooves of *The Kentucky Derby* (1922). Offstage, he shared life’s long stretch with Lucy Harding; when the final reel rolled, he dismounted on 9 February 1938 back home in Quincy, Illinois.
