Biography
A prairie wind carried William Hurlbut into the world on 13 July 1878 in Belvidere, Illinois, and it carried him straight toward story-spinning. Decades later his typewriter clacked out the macabre poetry that became Bride of Frankenstein (1935), the gleeful mayhem of Ladies Must Love (1933), and the locked-room chills of Secret of the Blue Room (1933). The final reel rolled on 4 May 1957 in Hollywood, California, closing the curtain on a scenarist who turned Midwestern daylight into silver-screen moonlight.
