While working as a flower girl in Devlin Maddox's nightclub, Nellie Vaughan meets wealthy young Pelton Van Teel and falls in love. Maddox, desirous of using Nellie to blackmail Van Teel, spreads a rumor that she is his mistress. This makes Nellie uncomfortable, and she demands that Van Teel marry her immediately, to which he agrees. Meanwhile, Van Teel has been losing money gambling to Maddox, who threatens to break up the marriage by producing a worthless check that the young husband has written. Venturing to Maddox's apartment for a showdown, Nellie pulls a gun and demands the check, accidentally shooting Maddox when he throws a lamp at her. Maddox plans to charge Nellie with assault, but when the police arrive, his butler, actually a detective employed by the elder Van Teel, exposes Maddox, who is then arrested, clearing the path for the couple's happiness.

Jerry Jerome, a rich young Wall Street broker, follows doctor's orders and goes West to relieve strain. He stops at the ranch of Jim Yancy, then agrees to be the maid of the farmhouse to earn his keep, because he is attracted to Yancy's daughter Ruth. After a series of stagecoach robberies by a masked man wearing a blue bandanna, Jerry, the new man in town, is suspect. When he finds a blue bandanna in Yancy's barn, he decides to investigate, and discovers that Yancy is an ex-convict being blackmailed into helping with the robberies. Jerry dresses up like the bandit to stop the stage and warn the driver of an intended robbery, but he is arrested himself. He convinces the sheriff to let him out so he can bring in the real thief. Yancy accidentally shoots his former partner Ben Cowan, who confesses to being the stagecoach robber. Jerry and Ruth marry and go to New York.

Brian O'Farrell (Snowy Baker), is an English 'new chum' who takes a job at an Australian cattle station. The station manager, John MacDonald (Wilfred Lucas), takes O'Farrell to Sydney to meet his daughter Edith (Kathleen Key) who is working in the slums. Confidence artist Flossie Golden attempts to fleece foolish but wealthy James Venable with a breach-of-promise suit. Cynthia's father was a famous wireless expert who taught her how to read code, which enables her to overhear a plot to sink the ship and steal Mrs. Savarin's jewels. Soon after, the crew mutinies, and while Rhode and Bruce fight the crew, Cynthia sounds the alarm. As he is attempting to foil the jewel thieves, Bruce falls overboard, and Cynthia swims to his rescue with the jewels strapped to her back. They are rescued by a government patrol boat and taken back to New York where Cynthia and Bruce are married.
