Her father appears the next morning and forces him to marry her. Alice, who is in league with crooks, departs, then, presumably in distress, sends for him. At her home, Charley is set upon by the thugs, but he escapes with the girl and leads his pursuers to the police station. Impressed with his courage and daring, Alice decides to make her marriage actual as well as legal.
