Biography
Viborg, Denmark, greeted A.W. Sandberg on 22 May 1887 and, by the time the curtain fell on 27 March 1938 in the spa town of Bad Nauheim, Germany, he had crammed three marriages—Else Frölich, Karen Caspersen, Ruth Jacobsen—and a torrent of silent-era cliff-hangers into his fifty years. Behind the camera he turned numbers into mystery (7-9-13, 1934) and turned the simply titled Manden med de ni Fingre III and IV (both 1916) into serial sensations that kept audiences counting fingers long after the lights came up.
