Biography
A crisp autumn day—29 October 1867—marked the first breath of George Ridgwell in the Woolwich barracks quarter of London. From those artillery-booming streets he marched into the flicker of early cinema, scripting and steering stories that sped across the world. In 1920 alone he hurled audiences into the human-trafficking thriller A Gamble in Lives and then tightened the suspense of The Sword of Damocles; two years later he pleaded parental patience in the family drama Don’t Blame Your Children. His final scene rolled on 3 April 1935 in Hampstead, the north-London hilltop where he had spent his last quiet years.
