Biography

A pioneer of the silver screen, Léonce Perret entered the world on 13 March 1880, in the commune of Niort, Deux-Sèvres. He seamlessly inhabited the roles of both visionary director and charismatic actor, carving out a permanent place in film history. His artistic footprint is best seen in the poignant 1913 feature The Child of Paris, the sophisticated The A.B.C. of Love (1919), and the whimsical Léonce et les écrevisses (1913). Off-screen, he shared his life with Valentine Petit. The curtain finally fell on his prolific career in Paris on 12 August 1935, leaving behind a rich cinematic heritage.
