Summary
In an audacious subversion of early twentieth-century biological ethics, a megalomaniacal professor ventures into the impenetrable verdure of the jungle to procure a specimen that will validate his radical Darwinian hypotheses. This creature, a biological enigma christened Darwa, is not merely a feral child but a synthetic chimera—a being forged through clandestine experimentation that straddles the ontological divide between primate and human. Transported from the chaotic flora to the rigid structures of high society, Darwa undergoes a metamorphosis, shedding her bestial origins to masquerade as an exotic debutante. Her integration is so profound that she ensnares the heart of a young aristocrat, a man blinded by the aesthetic veneer of her humanity. While the professor revels in the success of his Promethean artifice, the facade begins to fracture under the weight of instinct. The narrative reaches a fever pitch when the artificiality of civilization is stripped away, forcing Darwa into a visceral confrontation with a wild ape—a final, brutal litmus test designed to determine whether the spark of humanity can truly extinguish the primordial fire of the beast.
Synopsis
A professor aims to prove the Darwinian theory correct with a wild beast brought up in the jungles. The creature, named Darwa, is taken to civilization where society accepts her as a woman and a young aristocrat falls in love with her. As the creature is not a woman, but rather the result of experimentation and only half human, the professor declares the project a success. But will it hold up to the final test when Darwa is pitted against a wild ape?
