Summary
A slapstick odyssey unfurls on the swell of a trans-Atlantic liner where class is currency and love a stowaway. Vera, heiress in pearls, is banished to the open water by a tyrannical patriarch; Eddie, a penniless dreamer, chases her shadow aboard, only to be hurled into the steerage pit. Through contraband hooch and quick-change servitude he claws upward, swapping grease for white gloves, while below deck jazz sizzles and cardsharps deal futures. A gilded thief courts Vera for her diamonds; Eddie, disguised as a trembling waiter, spills soup and secrets until the final masquerade shatters—tray clatters, mask peels, heart wins. In one breathless reel the ship docks, the couple embrace, the crook is left hog-tied to a deckchair, and the Atlantic keeps their laughter echoing like steam-whistles in the fog.
