Summary
A hoofed everyman in a celluloid metropolis, Billy Whiskers—beard bristling with metropolitan dreams—gambles his future on the steering wheel of a rattletrap taxi, only to discover the city’s arteries pulse too feverishly for his caprine heart. Undaunted, he pivots toward the incandescent vocation of firefighting, donning a brass-buttoned coat that hangs like borrowed armor. When a Victorian dollhouse of a tenement erupts in magnesium-bright flames, Billy charges through the inferno’s roar, emerging with a swaddled human infant cradled in his horns—a moment that transmutes the barnyard outsider into a mythic civic guardian.
