Summary
The film introduces young Buster, a precocious and resourceful boy whose quick action saves Mary Jane from a runaway horse, immediately establishing his character as an inventive, if somewhat reckless, spirit. Driven by an innate fascination with aviation, Buster daringly appropriates his father's commercial airplane blueprints. From these stolen plans, he ingeniously constructs a rudimentary flying machine, a whimsical assemblage of a bed, a piano stool, and an electric fan, showcasing a child's unbounded imagination and a disregard for conventional engineering. When his father's promise of a trip to the flying field falls through, Buster, Mary Jane, and their loyal dog, Tige, surreptitiously hitch a ride on the family car's spare tire. A misadventure ensues, detaching Buster, still ensconced within the rolling tire, on a wild, uncontrolled trajectory through the chaotic thoroughfares of the town, depositing him unceremoniously near his father's workplace. Inside the office, his innocent play with a model airplane unexpectedly escalates into a destructive gale, its whirring propeller unleashing a cyclonic wind that wreaks havoc across the room. In a desperate attempt to stabilize the miniature aircraft, Buster and Tige climb aboard, only for it to spectacularly burst through a brick wall, initiating an improbable, destructive flight across the urban landscape. His father, witnessing the bizarre aerial spectacle, embarks on a frantic automotive pursuit, culminating in a dramatic chase that ends with the improvised flying contraption's complete, albeit spectacular, demise in the back seat of his vehicle.
After a horseback ride in which Buster rescues Mary Jane from her unmanageable animal, he goes home and steals the blue prints of his father's commercial airplane from which he constructs a play machine by combining a bed, a piano stool and an electric fan. His father declines to take him to the flying field but Buster, Mary Jane and the dog get aboard the spare tire of the car. The spare falls off with Buster in it and it rolls down a hill and through the heavy traffic of the town, dumping him near his father's office. He goes in and plays with the model of the airplane. The whizzing propeller throws a cyclonic wind through the offices, causing havoc and destruction. Buster and Tige get in the machine to hold it down. It carries them through the brick wall and through the town. Buster's father, in his car, sees them and follows underneath. After a wild ride the plane fall into the back seat of the auto and smashes to bits.
