De mystiske z straaler
Summary
In a stark tableau of early 20th-century urban despondency, Karsakow, a once-celebrated circus performer, finds his world irrevocably shattered by the abrupt loss of his livelihood. Stripped of the very stage that defined his existence, he grapples with the crushing weight of destitution, a burden compounded by his responsibility for his younger brother, Vladir. The gnawing specter of hunger and homelessness looms large, painting a grim future for the siblings. It is amidst this existential crisis that Karsakow stumbles upon a newspaper article, a seemingly innocuous report that unveils the extraordinary work of a reclusive inventor named Berg. Berg, the piece proclaims, has harnessed an unprecedented form of radiant energy – 'Z-straaler' – a light beam capable of penetrating any material, rendering all opaque barriers transparent. This revelation, a beacon of audacious scientific marvel, ignites a dangerous spark in Karsakow's desperate mind, transforming a tale of personal hardship into a potential confrontation with the very fabric of perception and privacy, hinting at the profound, perhaps perilous, implications of such an absolute power.
