Summary
In the whimsical, often chaotic narrative of 'Dog-Gone Tough Luck,' we are introduced to Lucky, a scruffy, perpetually optimistic terrier whose life is a series of unintended misadventures and accidental triumphs. Owned by Bartholomew 'Barty' Bumble, a kindly but perpetually down-on-his-luck inventor whose contraptions invariably backfire, Lucky's escapades are the unwitting catalyst for much of the film's comedic momentum. The plot unfurls as Barty, desperate to secure funding for his latest, most preposterous invention—an automatic pickle de-seeder—finds himself entangled with the nefarious industrialist, Silas Greed, who seeks to steal Barty's patent. Lucky, with his uncanny knack for being in the wrong place at the right time, inadvertently sabotages Greed's schemes, from chewing through vital blueprints mistaking them for chew toys, to triggering a chain reaction of Rube Goldberg-esque mishaps at a high-society gala where Barty attempts to woo investors. Each near-disaster orchestrated by the well-meaning canine somehow foils Greed's machinations, leading to increasingly farcical confrontations. The climax sees Lucky inadvertently activating Barty's de-seeder in a way that exposes Greed's duplicity to a room full of potential investors, ultimately securing Barty's fortune and reputation, while Lucky, oblivious to his heroic deeds, simply chases a stray cat, cementing his legacy as the most improbable of saviors.
