Dry Up

In the silent era's comedic spirit, 'Dry Up' chronicles the misadventures of Jack, an attorney operating without official sanction, who finds himself in a desperate financial bind. Facing imminent eviction and hunger, Jack employs a series of ingenious, if unorthodox, schemes to secure basic necessities. His trajectory then shifts dramatically when a distressed woman enlists his services to deliver divorce papers to her husband. What ensues is a farcical pursuit, marked by mistaken identity and slapstick, as Jack attempts to serve the summons. He eventually succeeds, only to be met with a cruel twist of fate when the now-repentant wife, having had a change of heart, rejects his hard-won efforts and his fee.
