In the shadow of the Tatra Mountains, a calculated physician seeks to strip the mystery from local folklore through the cold lens of early 20th-century spiritualism. Rather than searching for Janosik’s legendary treasure with a shovel, he chooses a more insidious tool: the fragile psyche of a village girl. By forcing her into a trance-like state as a medium, the doctor attempts to bridge the gap between the living world and the hidden riches of the past. What follows is a quiet, atmospheric collision between the burgeoning world of scientific exploitation and the deep-rooted superstitions of the Polish peasantry. The film explores the predatory nature of obsession, where the hunt for gold justifies the psychological violation of the innocent.
