Summary
In a narrative that masterfully intertwines the burgeoning 20th-century obsession with Egyptology and the timeless tropes of the romantic farce, Eddie Lyons portrays a desperate suitor whose ingenuity is as boundless as his affection. Eddie, finding himself excluded from the high-society inner circle of a formidable antiquities collector, realizes that the only passport into the man's fortified domestic sphere is through the very artifacts the patriarch covets. Orchestrating a daring gambit of self-transformation, Eddie abandons his modern identity to assume the guise of a silent, linen-wrapped relic from the Valley of the Kings. This masquerade necessitates a clandestine transit, as he is crated, hoisted, and delivered into the heart of the collector's estate under the auspice of an archaeological discovery. Once inside the mahogany-paneled sanctum, the 'mummy' must navigate the perilous line between inanimate object and ardent lover, leading to a series of high-stakes pantomimes where the slightest sneeze or shift in posture could unravel his elaborate deception and his hopes for matrimonial bliss.
