Summary
A collegiate romance serves as the catalyst for a geographic and spiritual pilgrimage in this silent-era exploration of American identity. While ensconced within the ivory towers of an Eastern university, a young co-ed finds herself the object of a fellow student's profound affection. However, her heart remains tethered to a phantom of the frontier—a rugged idealist residing in the untamed West. Driven by a desperate need to validate his worth and bridge the cultural chasm between effete academia and the visceral reality of the borderlands, the Eastern suitor embarks on a journey of self-reinvention. Upon reaching the wilderness, he confronts the 'tenderfoot' stigma with unexpected grit. His transformation reaches its zenith not through mere posturing, but through the high-stakes pursuit and apprehension of a notorious band of cattle rustlers, effectively dismantling the prejudices of his peers and securing his place in the sun-drenched hierarchy of the West.
