Summary
In an exquisite ballet of urban futility and pastoral aspiration, Buster Keaton's 'Go West' introduces us to Friendless, a denizen of the concrete jungle whose attempts at gainful employment are met with a relentless series of comical mishaps. Disillusioned by the city's unforgiving rhythm, he embarks on a quixotic quest for greener pastures, literally, finding himself adrift in the vast, sun-baked expanses of the American West. His journey, however, isn't one of traditional cowboy heroics, but rather a profound, albeit absurd, odyssey of self-discovery forged in the unlikely companionship with a cow named Brown Eyes. This tender, wordless bond becomes the unexpected epicenter of his existence, transforming a hapless wanderer into an unwitting, almost messianic, leader of a cattle drive destined for the West Coast. What begins as a search for a simple livelihood blossoms into a testament to the idiosyncratic power of connection, culminating in a spectacular, slapstick-infused urban cattle stampede that defies all logic, yet delivers an indelible emotional punch.
