Jubilo, a wandering tramp with a perpetual hankering for sustenance, roams the bustling streets of an unnamed American town, perpetually evading the clutches of honest labor. His days are a kaleidoscope of slapstick misadventures: he sidesteps a foreman's scowl, pilfers a loaf of bread from a bakery window, and navigates a chaotic train station with the agility of a circus performer. Along the way, he encounters a parade of characters—Will Rogers' affable sheriff, Marie Mosquini's flustered schoolmarm, and James Finlayson's irascible shopkeeper—each interaction spiraling into a comic tableau of misunderstandings and near‑captures. A chance encounter with a traveling circus troupe offers Jubile a fleeting taste of camaraderie, yet his wanderlust propels him onward.
