Nocturne

In the twilight of the silent era, Nocturne presents a devastating exercise in missed connections and the cruelty of physical proximity. The story centers on a woman (Raquel Meller) whose body is failing her, consumed by a lingering illness while her spirit remains tethered to a man who has vanished into the meat-grinder of war. She waits in a state of suspended animation within the sterile confines of a hotel, unaware that fate has played a twisted trick on her. The very man she yearns for has returned, battered and seeking refuge, and is currently occupying the room directly adjacent to hers. As she wastes away in a vigil for a ghost, he sleeps mere inches away, separated by a wall that might as well be an ocean. The film explores the tragic irony of two souls who are physically united but existentially worlds apart.
