Summary
Remember" unravels a classic silent-era melodrama centered on the intricate entanglements of love, duty, and deception within a familial triangle. We are introduced to Ruth Pomeroy, whose quiet devotion to mechanic Jimmy Crdigan remains unacknowledged, as Jimmy's affections are firmly fixed on Ruth's more vivacious sister, Connie. When the call of war summons Jimmy, Connie accepts his token of commitment – a signet ring – only to almost immediately demonstrate a profound lack of fidelity in his absence. Upon Jimmy’s return, tragically blinded by conflict, Ruth steps into Connie’s shoes, offering solace and support under a borrowed identity. The narrative culminates in the inevitable restoration of Jimmy’s sight, a moment of profound clarity where the veil of mistaken identity is lifted, revealing the true object of his enduring love to have been Ruth all along, not the sister who betrayed him.
