Summary
In a sun‑bleached frontier where hunger gnaws the collective conscience, a cadre of sentient beasts—monkeys, lions, owls, goats, dogs, parrots, mice, and more—convene beneath the regal gaze of a lion sovereign. Their council, a grotesque tableau of desperation, resolves to chase a $500 bounty promised by the Sheriff for proof that the haunted Idlewild Hotel is, in fact, uninhabited by specters. Meanwhile, Snooky, a spry terrier with a nose for trouble, and a small boy stumble upon a trio of bootleggers clandestinely distilling illicit spirits in defiance of the Eighteenth Amendment. The bootleggers seize the boy, prompting Snooky to summon his eclectic animal brigade via a covered wagon. In a whirlwind of fur, feathers, and fearless bravado, the animals unleash a cacophony of terror that drives the bootleggers to surrender to the Sheriff, securing the reward and, finally, a feast to satiate their famished souls.
Synopsis
A clever group of trained animals have a bootlegging trio of humans to thwart this time. The animals are driven to desperation for lack of food and after a grotesque mass meeting of monkeys, lions, owls, goats, dogs, parrots, mice, etc., presided over by a majestic lion, they act upon Snook's advice and determine to try for a reward of five hundred dollars which the Sheriff has offered to anybody who can prove that the Idlewild Hotel is not inhabited by ghosts. Snooky and a small boy discover a trio of bootleggers manufacturing eighteenth amendment knockouts and the three men capture the boy, whereupon Snooky phones for his "gang" who flies to the rescue in a covered wagon. From then on the fun is swift as all the animals manage to scare the bootleggers so badly that the trio finally is happy to be taken by the Sheriff and all the animals proceed to celebrate their relief from hunger with the aid of Snooky's reward received from the Sheriff.
