
Summary
In a scathing exposé of corruption, Robert Mason, a tenacious young black newspaperman, brings to light the malfeasance of Mark Lethier, a notorious labor leader. This courageous act precipitates a catastrophic chain of events, including the termination of Mason's engagement to Vivian Lethier, Mark's daughter. When Mark is subsequently murdered, Mason is wrongly convicted on flimsy circumstantial evidence and sentenced to a lengthy prison term. After languishing in prison for several years, Mason orchestrates a daring escape and flees to the southwestern cattle country, where he becomes enamored with Tex Miller, a captivating cowgirl. Mason then sets his sights on vanquishing an outlaw band terrorizing the territory, led by the infamous Buck Conley, a.k.a. the 'Night Terror.' Following his triumph, Mason resolves to surrender to the authorities, expecting to be returned to prison. However, upon learning that the genuine perpetrator has confessed to the crime, Mason rejoins Tex and the country he has grown to adore.
Synopsis
Robert Mason, a young black newspaperman, exposes corrupt labor leader Mark Lethier. In turn, Mason's engagement to Vivian Lethier is ended. When Mark Lethier is murdered, Mason is convicted on circumstantial evidence and sentenced to prison. After several years in prison, he escapes and makes his way to the southwestern cattle country, where he falls in love with Tex Miller, a beautiful cowgirl. Mason endeavors to rid the territory of an outlaw band led by Buck Conley, a.k.a. the "Night Terror." Once he is successful, he decides to give himself up to the law, thinking that he will be sent back to prison. However, after discovering that the real murderer has confessed, he returns to Tex and the country he has come to love.
