The Hard Rock Breed

In the rugged, unforgiving crucible of his father's rock quarries, Donald Naughton, scion of industrial wealth and embodiment of indolence, is thrust into a baptism by fire. Tasked with supplanting the venal superintendent, Mike Carney, Don initially flounders amidst the raw power of the rock drillers and the hardened men who wield them. His nascent leadership is softened only by the presence of Shiela Dolan, the captivating daughter of an old family friend, Lynch, whose own struggles with the bottle cast a shadow over their nascent connection.
