Summary
In a sheltered existence, Simon Haldane, employed at the Faulkner Iron Works, is catapulted into turmoil when a mysterious young woman appears in his bedroom, precipitating a chain reaction of events that shatter his quiescent life. Raised by his two maiden aunts, Simon's insulated upbringing has rendered him acutely averse to interpersonal interactions and the world at large. The enigmatic girl's presence not only perturbs Simon but also instigates a rumor that he is married, thereby entangling him in a complex web of social complications and self-discovery.
Synopsis
Simon Haldane works in the office of the Faulkner Iron Works, but he has been raised by his two maiden aunts in an extremely sheltered manner, and is basically afraid of everyone and everything. One morning he finds a strange girl shivering in his bedroom, and although he's terrified of her, he manages to call a doctor for her. This starts a rumor that Simon is married. Complications ensue.
