The Sea Wolf
Summary
From the tranquil embrace of a ferry crossing, socialite Humphrey Van Weyden and the ethereal Maud Brewster are abruptly plunged into a maritime purgatory when their vessel founders. Rescued, not by salvation, but by the ominous schooner 'Ghost,' they find themselves prisoners under the tyrannical dominion of Captain Wolf Larsen. This fearsome master of the sea, a man of brutal intellect and Darwinian philosophy, sees in Van Weyden not a passenger, but a new cabin boy—a pawn to be broken and reshaped by the unforgiving elements and his own capricious will. For the delicate Maud, Larsen harbors far more sinister intentions, her beauty a coveted prize in his desolate, power-hungry world. The 'Ghost' transforms into a floating crucible, where the veneer of civilization is stripped bare, exposing the raw struggle between refined sensibility and primordial savagery, all orchestrated by the predatory genius of a captain who is as much philosopher as he is brute.
Synopsis
Humphrey Van Weyden and Maud Brewster are rescued by a nearby ship when the ferry they're on is rammed and sinks. However, instead of dropping them off ashore, the ship's fearsome captain, the brutal Wolf Larsen, forces Humphrey to work as a cabin boy--and has other ideas for pretty young Maud.
