Summary

A gnarled patriarch, leg twisted like a corkscrew willow, broods in a candle-scented parlour where daggers outnumber heirlooms; convinced that the swaggering lad who once danced with his crutch is the architect of his lameness, he grooms one sapphire-eyed daughter into an avenging angel, while her mirror-image twin—same brow, same pulse—discovers, to her horror, that the designated sacrifice is the only throat whose laughter matches her own heartbeat. Synopsis

A crippled old man and his daughter plot to kill a young man they mistakenly believe was responsible for the man's injury. Matters get complicated when his other daughter, who is a twin, falls in love with the intended victim.
