5.9/10

A definitive 5.9/10 rating for a film that redefined the boundaries of cult cinema. Bulloney remains a cornerstone of transgressive art.
Should you watch Bulloney? If you are the kind of person who enjoys watching logic get thrown out the window in favor of pure, unadulterated chaos, then absolutely. If you want a structured narrative that follows the rules of physics, you should probably stay far away from this one.
Flip is clearly not a guy who thinks ahead. He ends up in a bullring after a romantic mishap, and honestly, the way he just rolls with the punches is kind of impressive. 🐂
The movie starts with a standard matador routine, but then things go off the rails. Suddenly, it’s a wrestling match. Then, without any warning, it’s a football game. I swear, the transition is so jarring it feels like the animators just got bored and decided to draw whatever came into their heads next.
There is a basketball moment that lasts about ten seconds and makes zero sense in the context of a bullfight. It’s hilarious because of how hard it tries to be everything all at once. It reminds me a bit of the frantic energy in The Knockout, where everyone is just moving too fast to care about the premise.
It’s not trying to be Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves or some grand epic. It’s a short, weird, and messy cartoon that knows exactly what it is. Sometimes it feels like the frames are skipping, but that just adds to the vintage charm.
Is it a masterpiece? No. Is it the perfect thing to put on when your brain is tired? You bet. 🤡
I found myself wondering if they just had a list of sports and decided to check them off one by one. It’s the kind of "wait, what?" energy that modern stuff is missing. Anyway, watch it for the cannonball bit. It's the highlight.
