5.9/10

A definitive 5.9/10 rating for a film that redefined the boundaries of cult cinema. Le triangle de feu remains a cornerstone of transgressive art.
Honestly, only if you’re the kind of person who enjoys hunting down obscure silent-era crime flicks on a Saturday night. If you need tight pacing or a story that makes total sense, skip it. If you like moody French shadows and people pointing at things with intense expressions, you’re in the right place. 🕵️♂️
The whole thing revolves around this secret group, Le Triangle De Feu. They commit crimes and leave a triangular hole behind. It’s weirdly specific, right? It almost feels like a bad habit they just can’t quit. Like leaving a business card, but more destructive.
There’s a moment in the second act where a character just stares at a wall for what feels like a week. I think the editor just forgot to cut the take? It’s not profound. It’s just long. You can almost hear the projectionist taking a coffee break.
It definitely shares that same dusty, theatrical vibe you get in Le manoir de la peur. Everything feels like it was built on a stage, which gives it this weird, claustrophobic charm. You aren't watching a real city; you're watching a dream of a city.
Sometimes, the plot gets tangled up in its own feet. Characters pop in and out of scenes without any real explanation. One minute someone is a mastermind, the next they’re just standing in the corner looking confused. 🤷♂️
I caught myself looking at the background furniture more than the actors. The chairs look incredibly uncomfortable. Why are they always sitting on such stiff wooden things during high-stakes dramatic revelations?
It’s not as punchy as Havoc, that’s for sure. It’s slower. Much slower. But there’s a certain weird magic in watching these old films try to figure out how to be scary. It’s like watching someone learn to ride a bike, if the bike was made of shadows and triangle-shaped holes.
Don't expect a masterpiece. Just expect a relic that has a bit of a soul.
