Biography
A Broadway baby, Stanhope Wheatcroft first drew breath on 11 May 1888 amid the electric clang of Manhattan. By 1917 he had traded stageboards for silver-screen slippers, stepping into A Modern Cinderella, followed by the slapstick espionage of Three X Gordon in 1918 and the breathless horse-track farce The Hottentot in 1922. Off-camera he exchanged vows twice—first with Jennie Fayette “Fay” Kirk Salmon, later with Beatrice Hayden—before the final curtain fell on 13 February 1966 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles.
