Jerry, on his first vacation in a long time, is disturbed by a telegram saying that his uncle is coming to spend the summer with him and his wife, Amber. This makes Jerry mad, but his wife sets him to work straightening up the house, in preparation for the visit. She tells him to hang up uncle's picture. In doing this, Jerry hammers a long nail into the wall so far that it penetrates a water pipe and the water floods the room. Finally the whole side of the wall breaks out. The flood stopped, Amber tells him to go out to the garage and get the spare mattress. In getting into the garage he bumps into a neighbor who is working on his auto and spills grease on him. Before he finally gets the mattress, he has smashed the windshield of his neighbor's car, spilled paint on him and has gone skidding out to the front sidewalk on his youngster's toy wagon. With the mattress in his arms he starts for his house, but falls on the lawn. His wife accidentally turns on the lawn sprinklers and Jerry is given a good bath. But he at last squeezes into the house with the water-soaked mattress in his arms. The water spurts out whenever anybody touches the mattress, but he gets it on the bed, only to have it fall in.
