Visualizing the convergence of W.A. Van Scoy's style and the core cult narrative.
"Raindrops" follows the career of a drop of water from the time before it falls to earth in the form or rain, until it finds haven in a broad stretch of inland water. Saucy as an imp, the raindrop-it's action explained always in accompanying captions of singular beauty and appropriateness, culled from the best known poets -- tumbles to earth, and starts on a series of myriad adventures. The drop, in company with millions of it's fellow adventurers, falls from the clouds to the earth for the direct benefit of the camera. For this a real moving picture of a rain storm, and the roaring swish of its downpour can almost be heard, as it drenches down upon land and water, soaking the ground, and dimpling the waves with its unnumbered drops.
Decades after its release, Raindrops remains a vital piece of the cinematic puzzle. Its influence can be seen in countless modern works, solidifying W.A. Van Scoy's status as a master of the craft in United States and beyond.
