Der Wetterwart

Set against the bleak, wind‑swept cliffs of a fictional German coastal town, "Der Wetterwart" follows the stoic meteorologist Friedrich Lenz (Albert Steinrück), appointed as the solitary guardian of the town's weather station. Lenz, a man of disciplined routine and scientific rigor, becomes the reluctant arbiter of the villagers' fate as his forecasts dictate the harvest, the fishermen's voyages, and the timing of the annual pilgrimage to the lighthouse. When a tempest of unprecedented ferocity looms, Lenz's methodical predictions clash with the superstitious fervor of the townsfolk, led by the charismatic innkeeper Klaus (Albert Paulig) and the sardonic village clerk Otto (Julius Falkenstein).
