Biography
Born beneath the Erzgebirge rooftops of Stollberg on 14 January 1873, Albert Paulig slipped naturally into the footlights, carving out a screen presence that flickered from the silent era’s infancy to the dawn of talkies. Audiences first laughed with him in *The Perfect Thirty-Three* (1914), later swooned to *Because It’s You* (1925), and finally waltzed through *A Waltz in the Sleeping Car* (1930). His final curtain fell in Berlin on 19 March 1933, leaving the city’s cafés and cinemas a shade less bright.
