Summary

A soot-streaked ceramics hall in early-century Malmö becomes the crucible where clay dust and human marrow intermingle. Synopsis

Engineer Holm has fallen in love with the young porcelain painter Martha. He accompanies her both to and from the factory. Manufacturer Brenner's daughter Anna admires Holm. One day she sees him on his way to the factory with Martha. He kisses Martha, which arouses Anna's hatred.
