Summary
Angela, a beacon of small-town ambition from Centerville, arrives in the glittering crucible of Hollywood, her sole companions a fervent dream of cinematic stardom and her unassuming Grandpa. Leaving behind the familiar comfort of Grandma, an aunt, a brother, and a steadfast beau, she plunges into the bustling heart of the movie industry. Despite the ubiquitous presence of silver screen luminaries and an exhaustive canvassing of every casting agency, her inaugural day concludes in disheartening unemployment. Yet, a cruel twist of fate awaits her at their lodgings: Grandpa, with an almost cosmic serendipity, has been plucked from obscurity by none other than William C. de Mille, catapulting him into an unforeseen celebrity. Weeks unfurl with his star ascendant, much to Angela's bewildered chagrin. Alarmed by this unexpected foray into Tinseltown's unpredictable currents, her family descends upon Hollywood, intending to reclaim their kin. In a stunning, almost farcical progression, her Aunt, Grandma, brother, faithful boyfriend, and even the family parrot inexplicably attain superstardom. Angela, the original dreamer, remains agonizingly, ironically, the only one untouched by the fickle hand of fame.
