Summary
In the midst of war-torn chaos, an unsuspecting young librarian, Lily, finds herself entangled in a complicated web of affections with the officers of a German garrison. Her innocence and beauty captivate several men, but it is Lieutenant Prell who becomes particularly enamored with her. Despite his ardor, Lily commits to a life with Colonel Mertzbach, the aristocratic and authoritative regimental commander. Synopsis
